Blair talks politics with Richard and Judy
British Prime Minister Tony Blair today appeared on Channel 4's Richard and Judy show, laughing off suggestions that he was planning a snap election and insisting he had not yet decided on a date for the poll.
Speculation that the vote may be held earlier than the expected date of May 5 has grown over recent days as Labour’s pre-election campaigning has stepped up a pitch.
But Mr Blair today denied rumours that he might announce the election date tomorrow, when he is due to launch a card carrying six Labour pledges for a third term in office.
Speaking on the show, Mr Blair said he had been aware for some time of the pending announcement of Prince Charles’ plans to marry Camilla Parker Bowles, but had not told the cabinet.
“I think that everyone has known that Prince Charles and Camilla are together and if they want to make that commitment in marriage then I wish them every success and happiness, and I’m sure everyone else does too,” he said.
