Bob Geldof's recordings of his classic hit songs have been saved from ruin - after his music collaborator rescued them from disintegrating in the studio cupboard.

Bob Geldof's recordings of his classic hit songs have been saved from ruin - after his music collaborator rescued them from disintegrating in the studio cupboard.

Master tapes of classic songs I Don't Like Mondays and Rat Trap were left to rot at the Irish singer's record label before Pete Briquette intervened and restored the quality to all six studio albums.

Briquette says: "The masters were in very poor condition.

"It was important to restore them because that's the legacy of our body of work."
