Bez wins Big Brother
Former Happy Mondays star Bez became the shock winner of Celebrity Big Brother tonight.
The âFreaky Dancerâ â famed for his drug-fuelled excesses â beat teenage heartthrob Kenzie despite the rapper being red-hot favourite.
After walking out to cheers from his female fans, Kenzie told presenter Davina McCall he was now âlooking for some actionâ.
As he walked out the house, Bez shouted: âYeah man Iâm coming at ya!â
Looking choked and emotional, he gave Davina a hug before walking down the red carpet.
The 40-year-old said he would be âforever gratefulâ to the show.
âI was in a great deal of trouble,â he said. âI was in a heap of shit. Now Iâve bailed out and Iâm forever grateful.â
The 24 Hour Party person said he had enjoyed his time in the house despite saying it had been his worst nightmare while he was there.
The Mancunian said he was worried about his sons and how being in the show had affected them.
âItâs a constant stress for me,â he told Davina.
Saying he would use his ÂŁ50,000 prize money for âpimping my rideâ, he did a trademark dance to the crowd with his hands in the air.
Bez got 54% of the vote to become tonightâs winner.
A total of ÂŁ262,002 has been raised for charity from the show from a total of 1,048,007 votes over the 18-day series.
Viewers were able to vote via telephone, text message and interactive TV with half of the 50p cost going to charity.
Bookmakers William Hill breathed a sigh of relief after Kenzie failed to win.
The odds had been as short as 1/5 on Kenzie winning when Hills closed the betting, spokesman Rupert Adams said.
He said: âBez was odds on to be evicted when he went against John McCririck in an earlier eviction, and reached 20/1 in the outright betting.
âPunters backed Kenzie down to an amazingly short price.
âBut in this case, it proves that whatever you know, there is no such thing as a sure thing.â
