Ray is an outstanding film

For his excellent portrayal of singer Ray Charles in this outstanding bio, Foxx has just collected a Golden Globe; a clear indication of strong Oscar potential come March.

What makes the film so compelling is the manner in which James L. White’s quality screenplay, Hackford’s pacing and the cast’s universally wonderful playing bring us an authentic account of the life and times - often gritty - of the blind singer.

And the performance of Foxx is truly outstanding because he becomes his subject, warts and all, and paints a brilliant picture of a richly-talented man.

Indeed, Hackford has been supported in the film by some great contributions, not the least of which comes from Warren as Charles’s mother, Washington as his wife and King as his mistress.

In all respects this is a gem of a film; and, obviously, the soundtrack does no harm whatsoever!
