Slovak band jailed for inciting hatred
A Slovak rock band was jailed today for inciting racial hatred through their lyrics.
The three members of the NS Band were convicted under a law banning public demonstrations of support for fascism or other movements that suppress human rights and freedoms.
The district court in Martin, 136 miles from the capital, Bratislava, sentenced two of the band to three years in prison. The third member was sentenced to three years and two months.
They were arrested in 2003 after police searched their apartments and found music recordings and other material promoting racism.
