Church missed tsunami

Teen singer Charlotte Church is relieved she cancelled her Christmas holiday to the Maldives, because she would have been on the islands when the tsunami hit.

Church and boyfriend Kyle Johnson had booked a vacation on the stunning island, but the Welsh star's recording commitments forced the couple to change the dates.

She laments: "We went there in October instead and obviously we are very grateful we weren't there when the wave struck.

"It's a beautiful part of the world and after being there, I cannot believe the destruction that we have all seen. My heart goes out to the victims and their families."

Church will join Eric Clapton, Feeder, Manic Street Preachers, Badly Drawn Boy, Snow Patrol and Embrace at a tsunami fundraising gig in her native Cardiff's Millennium Stadium on January 22.
