Berry speaks of 'challenging' 2004

Oscar-winner Halle Berry is starting 2005 with a whole new attitude, following her "challenging" and "dark" 2004.

Last year saw the Monster's Ball star divorce her second husband Eric Benet, file a restraining order against alleged stalker Greg Broussard and witness her film Catwoman bomb in the box office.

In a letter to fans, Berry says: "As you all know, 2004 was a challenging year for me. I thank you for standing by me and graciously respecting my privacy.

"However, I have learned over the years that with the darkness comes the light. I plan on using the many lessons I've learned this year to inform my every moment of next year.

"My wish for 2005 is that we all continue to find our light after each patch of darkness. I pray that we have the eyes to see the lesson of the darkness and the heart to embrace the growth of the light.

"As I always say, until I'm on my back in that little box looking straight up, anything is possible if you just believe."
