Czech supermodel injured in tsunami arrives in Prague
Czech supermodel Petra Nemcova, who was injured in the Asian tsunami, arrived in Prague today, a news agency reported.
Nemcova had been recovering from her injuries in a Thai hospital and was to be hospitalised in Prague for at least a few days, the CTK news agency said.
Nemcova, 25, and her boyfriend, photographer Simon Atlee, were on holiday in the resort of Phuket when the waves swept through their beach hut. She reportedly clung to a tree for eight hours as the water swirled around her.
Her New York spokesman, Rob Shuter, said Nemcova will spend several days in a Prague hospital and then will likely stay in the country until she fully recovers. He said her major injury was a broken pelvis.
Nemcova appeared on the cover of 2003 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue and has posed for magazines including Marie Claire and Vogue. She also models for Victoria’s Secret.
Atlee, 33, a well-known fashion photographer, was swallowed by the raging waters and is still missing.
