Richard and Judy top Millionaire special
TV hosts Richard and Judy defeated Paul and Heather McCartney in the celebrity special of Who Wants to be a Millionaire.
TV presenters Carol Smillie and Michael Aspel went away with just £1,000 on the Christmas Day show.
Paul and Heather Mills McCartney won £32,000 for Adopt-a-Minefield after sitting on the hotseat.
After appearing on the Christmas Eve show, the former Beatle and his wife reappeared on the Christmas Day programme to face the £32,000 question with no lifelines remaining.
They failed on the £64,000 question “B is the symbol for which element?”
With a choice of Barium, Bromine, Boron and Bismuth, the couple gambled on Barium, but the correct answer was Boron.
Smillie and Aspel failed on the £32,000 question after Chris Tarrant asked the pair which author penned The Rachel Papers.
They gambled on Will Self but the correct answer was Martin Amis- taking away £1,000 for their charities, including the NSPCC.
Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan didn’t know the answer to the £125,000 question “Who composed the music for the ballet ’Cinderella’?” and so decided to walk away with their winnings.
They knew the answer to the £64,000 question that Martha was the name of George Washington’s wife.
Richard and Judy were playing for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and the Caron Keating Foundation.
Tarrant said: “All our celebrities were brilliant this Christmas. It’s always tough in that chair, but it’s even tougher when it’s not your own money that is at stake. Congratulations to all of them.”
