Murdered ex-Pantera guitarist 'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott was honoured by thousands of music fans yesterday at a memorial service in Arlington, Texas.

Ex-Marine Nathan Gale was shot dead by police after he gunned down Abbott and three others at the star's gig with his band Damageplan in a Columbus, Ohio, nightclub last week.

Thousands of fans filled the Arlington Convention Center with touching banners and wreaths, in remembrance of Abbott, who was buried at a private funeral earlier in the day.

One fan complains: "A legend died on Wednesday night. I guarantee I'll be telling my kids about this day and the day that he died. My heart was broken."
