Madonna lands top-four figures

Madonna's controversial Re-Invention trek has been named the year's most lucrative tour after taking a staggering $125m (€93.8m) in ticket sales.

According to tour statisticians at Billboard Boxscore, Madonna sold out 55 of 56 performances worldwide, with an average nightly take of $2.23m (€1.7m).

That was by far the biggest live success of the year, despite comments from Elton John that attempted to discredit the pop superstar for lip-syncing parts of her show.

Meanwhile, Prince's Musicology tour drew more fans than any other artist, and grossed $90.2m (€67.7m).

Shania Twain was third with grosses totalling $62.5m (€46.9m).
