Elton cancels show after losing voice
Singer Elton John cancelled a show tonight after a throat infection resulted in the loss of his singing voice.
The concert at Nottingham Arena was to be the third in the singer’s December UK concert tour.
Sir Elton, 57, said: “I seem to have caught this infection only yesterday, and my voice started to go during last night’s show.
“I woke up this morning with virtually no voice.”
He added: “I’ve been doing all that I can to try to get my voice back and I’ve seen a throat specialist today who has advised that it would be foolish to go ahead with today’s show.
“I’m sorry to disappoint all the people who’ve bought tickets for the show.”
Organisers said the star should be well enough to perform at his next dates, in Glasgow on Sunday and at the Hammersmith Apollo in London next week.
