Foo Fighters to headline Oxegen

The Foo Fighters will headline the two-day Oxegen music festival in 2005, it was confirmed today.

Tickets for the July festival are going on sale for a limited period this Friday – some seven-months ahead of the event.

Oxegen will return to Punchestown Racecourse, Naas, Co Kildare on July 9 and 10 next year, subject to the granting of the licence.

Promoters MCD said they were giving “music lovers a festive Xmas treat” with an early offer to allow music fans to purchase at this year’s prices.

Tickets will rise by around €10 for a weekend ticket and €5 for a day ticket for next year’s event that will see over 100 acts play five stages.

The tickets, including booking fee at this year’s prices cost €59.50 for one day, €110 for two days and €130 for two days plus camping, and will go on sale on December 3 to December 24.

This year’s event, which was headlined by The Darkness after David Bowie bowed out due to medical reasons, sold out several weeks before the festival.

Foo Fighters frontman David Grohl said the band is currently working on a follow-up to 2002’s "One By One", which is due to go into pre-production.
