Emmerdale star and footballer expecting first child

Emmerdale star Sammy Winward is expecting her first baby with footballer fiance David Dunn, it was announced today.

The 19-year-old actress, who plays Katie Sugden, is due to give birth in May. She and Birmingham City player Dunn, 24, are “delighted” at the news.

An Emmerdale spokeswoman said: “We are thrilled for Sammy and wish her and David every happiness.”

Sammy, who has played Katie for three-and-a-half years, will take maternity leave from the show in the spring.

The couple have been dating for two years and Dunn proposed on Sammy’s 18th birthday.

They split earlier this year, citing their busy work schedules, but were reunited three months later.

Sammy has been at the centre of some racy storylines in recent months. Her character Katie was involved in a love triangle with husband Andy and his brother Robert.
