Comic Vic Reeves has joined his wife in the jungle in a surprise twist on the hit TV show I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!.
The funnyman will now sweat it out Down Under with the 10 other celebrity contestants on the ITV programme.
A spokesman for the show said today: “I can confirm that Vic Reeves is in the jungle.”
She would not reveal when Reeves arrived at the jungle camp at Murwillumbah, near Brisbane on Australia’s east coast – or what TV bosses have in store for the star, if he will face Bush Tucker trials, or if he can get voted out.
He joins his wife Nancy Sorrell. The 30-year-old model married Reeves a year and a half ago. She lives with Reeves in a Kent mansion and recently hinted that she would like to have a baby.
Sorrell, the face and body of Ann Summers sex and lingerie shops, is one of the favourites with ex-Gossard girl Sophie Anderton.
Yesterday the jungle stars were left baffled when an extra large bed was moved into a treehouse they have built.
But spokesmen for the show would not reveal whether or not the stunt was intended to stir passions between Sorrell and her newly-arrived husband.
The glamour girl has already poured her heart out in front of the cameras about her love for Reeves – real name Jim Moir.
She told model Sophie Anderton and ex-All Saints beauty Natalie Appleton of the first time she met her husband, who shot to fame with sketch show The Smell Of Reeves And Mortimer and the surreal game show Shooting Stars.
She said: “He was just staring at me… he said he had my model card on his desk for three months.
“He’s just so lovely, he’s brilliant, he’s the best man, I couldn’t be happier”.
Reeves’ arrival in the jungle will no doubt cause a stir among the other contestants as they find they have another mouth to feed.
Sharp-tongued journalist Janet Street-Porter undertook the latest Bushtucker trial in an attempt to win meals for the camp.
The 57-year-old was bitten three times by snakes during the challenge, in which she was given 10 minutes to remove 10 stars hidden in a tank full of the reptiles.
She managed to remove nine stars, therefore winning nine meals for her fellow campers, making her the most successful of the I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here! Contestants so far.
The show is in its fourth series and runs for two weeks.
Reformed drug addict Sophie Anderton and former royal butler Paul Burrell are the favourites to be evicted from the jungle first.
Comic Joe Pasquale is favourite to win the contest, according to Ladbrokes.
Other contestants in the show include Starsky And Hutch actor Antonio Fargas, ex-East 17 singer Brian Harvey, Three Degrees star Sheila Ferguson and Dubliner Fran Cosgrove, a nightclub owner.
