Tolkien's home becomes listed building

The eight-bedroom house where author JRR Tolkien penned The Hobbit and the Lord Of The Rings trilogy is receiving listed building status.

Tolkien lived in the pebbledashed villa in the Oxford suburbs for 17 years, during his time as professor of Anglo Saxon at the university.
