Olympian Kelly declared 'amazing'
Athletics golden girl Kelly Holmes was named Britain's Amazing Woman 2004 today in an internet poll.
The 34-year-old double Olympic gold-medallist beat off competition from last yearâs winner Sharon Osbourne to take the title.
Kelly won 31% of the vote, while X Factor TV presenter Sharon received 28% of the poll conducted by Handbag.com.
Handbag.com editor Debbie Djordjevic said: âThe similarities of these two (British) national heroines are apparent.
âHaving faced numerous setbacks, both have peaked later on in life, having found the strength to battle on and come out the other side as winners. Clearly, these are qualities that women applaud.â
Actress Kate Winslet came third with 14% while singer Jamelia took 9% and Harry Potter author JK Rowling won 8% of the vote.
The votes were cast by 2,369 readers of the womenâs lifestyle website.
