Goldberg: I wasn’t dumped by SlimFast
Comedienne Whoopi Goldberg insists she wasn't dumped by SlimFast - her contract with the diet aid company had simply expired.
The Ghost star caused a stir in the summer when she reportedly mocked American President George W Bush at a Democratic fundraiser.
News immediately followed that Goldberg had been dropped as spokesperson for SlimFast, with the company even releasing a statement to express its "disappointment" at her comments.
But Goldberg now claims the reports were all inaccurate.
She says: "It was other people making sure that I understood that I was being listened to, and what it told me is that people were concerned that maybe I was able to talk to people.
"So instead of checking and saying: 'Gee, is her deal done with SlimFast?' they just went on and thought that they had killed it. The deal was done. I already made all the money."
Goldberg has vowed to press on with expressing her views.
She adds: "The great thing about being here and being a performer in the US is that you have the right to speak with dissent without fear of retribution."
