Charles to host hip hop bash

The Prince’s Trust is to host another urban music festival following the success of the first, it was announced today.

RnB superstar Beyoncé and fiancé Jay-Z headlined in May this year when the youth charity staged Britain’s biggest ever event dedicated to urban acts.

More than 30,000 revellers turned up for the weekend event which included sets by Jamelia, Alicia Keys and The Streets.

The second celebration of urban music and culture will be on April 16 and 17 at Earls Court in London.

Ellie Gray, project director for the hip hop bash, said: “The festival’s artist line-up will be as exciting as last year’s while at the same time giving a platform to the UK’s young music talent.”

In the lead up to the festival, the Trust will be organising talent nights which will offer unsigned artists, MCs, music producers and streetdance crews the chance to perform at the festival alongside the top acts.

The Prince’s Trust, set up by Prince Charles, helps young people to overcome barriers through practical support including training, mentoring and financial assistance.

Next year’s line-up has yet to be announced.
