Hawkins denies brawl caused hand injury

The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins has denied he seriously damaged his hand in an alcohol-fuelled brawl at the weekend.

The I Believe in a Thing Called Love rocker was previously reported to have been punched in the face by a mystery assaillant during a night out in London, something he dismisses.

Hawkins confirms he will be able to play on The Darkness's upcoming British tour, he will also be participating in the recording of charity track BAND AID III.

A posting on thedarkness.com reads: "Don't be alarmed by the rumours that Justin Hawkins may not be able to play guitar on The Darkness's upcoming UK tour.

"We can confirm reports this weekend that The Darkness frontman and guitarist, Justin Hawkins, has sustained a slight injury to his right hand, but will be fine to wield his 'axe'. There was no altercation as was alleged in certain sections of the press.

"This injury poses no threat to either the arena tour or his participation in the forthcoming Band Aid III single. Justin is able to play his guitar with his usual flair.

"Speaking from tour rehearsals, Justin said that he had accidentally cut his hand but that 'everything is fine' and the tour is in 'absolutely no danger' of being cancelled."
