Zellweger: I've never been engaged

Renee Zellweger proves that she is nothing like her Bridget Jones character because she isn't looking for Mr Right and has never been engaged or proposed to.

Reports suggested the Cold Mountain actress was engaged to Jim Carrey in 2000, but the 35-year-old Oscar-winner seems to know nothing about it.

She says: "Am I on a quest for a husband? Well, I don't look at it that way. I don't think it's something you need to do by a certain age. I didn't grow up thinking that the guy was going to ride up on a horse and that I was going to have this kind of wedding and, by the time I was this age, I was going to have the house and kids. I just didn't have those prerequisites for happiness.

"I've never been proposed to or engaged. Never, never, never. Not even close. I've never been an active partner-seeker. When it happens it's a lovely thing and I believe in it, and I've seen how happy my parents are. But I don't think that happiness is contingent upon finding it."
