School's out, though when the boyfriend of Mary (Malone) says he thinks he's gay out takes on a different meaning.

Set in a devout school - where the girls band together in the Christian Jewels - the story takes a twist when Mary decides to sleep with said boyfriend (Faust) in order to save him.

But when she gets pregnant she moves away from her friends towards the school's wild-child (Amurri) and wheelchair-bound Culkin.

There is a swipe at Middle, Right-wing Stateside values but the film, for all that it tries very hard to engage us, never quite comes off.

On the plus side, several performances - those of Malone and Amurri - stand out and director Dannelly does his best to make the characters realistic.
