Singer Vanessa Carlton has angered religious fans after allegedly referring to Jesus as "an uppity Jew" during a trip to a Catholic Church.

The Jewish star visited the church as a form of "spiritual cleansing" after going to a New York strip club, but was upset to discover a service going on - according to music website Popdirt.com.
