Travolta under guard after receiving threats
Film star John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston are under heavy guard after receiving threats, it was reported today.
Bomb-sniffing dogs checked guests at the Sunday premiere of his new film, A Love Song for Bobby Long.
Guests were told to remove pens from their pockets and, at a party attended by Travolta later, menâs wallets were searched.
The following day, Travolta was surrounded by bodyguards when he accepted a lifetime achievement award at the Hollywood Film Festival, according to the USA Today newspaper.
Travoltaâs publicist, Paul Bloch, said: âI think the best thing to say is no comment.â
It was not clear exactly what threats the star had received.
Security has been significantly increased around Travolta since last monthâs premiere of his fire-fighter movie, Ladder 49.
Then he had just one bodyguard as he crossed Hollywood Boulevard to sign autographs.
During the Monday ceremony Travolta and Preston entered via a back door and were escorted to the stage by guards.
They did not address the threats but joked about the grey hair Travolta sports as an alcoholic in Bobby Long.
âIt was very distinguished and handsome,â said Preston.
