The hitmaker has finally consented to the wishes of fans, and has now started playing Stone Roses songs at live gigs.

He told Time Out magazine: "It was important for me to stand on my own two feet at first. I wanted to establish myself as a music maker in my own right.

"I'd not sung those songs for eight years, but when we rehearsed it all just came out right. I was took straight back to when we wrote the tunes on the dole in 1986 and 1987."

The Stone Roses split in 1996.
