Crudup stays a man

American actor Billy Crudup regrets he never got in touch with his feminine side when dressing up as a woman in Stage Beauty.

He admits he found it hard to don corsets to play the 'female' theatre actor Ned Kynaston in the Richard Eyre film.

Crudup says: "I did not find her. It was quite, quite, quite difficult. I never found a place of comfort or resolve. What you do at a certain point is accept what you have and go with it. But I never got to a point when I felt like: 'Ahh. This is the woman that would have been'."
