Snow Patrol to end year with RDS show
Snow Patrol have announced they will round a year to remember with a special show at the RDS Main Hall on December 29.
With their two intimate November dates at The Olympia selling out on the morning of going on sale, the band led by front-man Gary Lightbody will now treat their fans to their biggest Irish headline show to date in December.
All 15 dates on Snow Patrol’s forthcoming UK & Ireland Tour are completely sold out. The sold-out tour concludes with two nights of a homecoming at Belfast’s Ulster Hall on December 22 and 23.
Tickets for the RDS gig go on sale at 9am on Saturday October 2 and are priced at €34.50.
Following on from the brilliant Run and Chocolate, Spitting Games continues to excite the airwaves and was one of the hits of the year. A fourth single, How To Be Dead is set to be released mid-October.
Platinum selling Final Straw (Snow Patrol’s third album) was nominated for this year’s 2004 Mercury Music Award, missing out to Franz Ferdinand.
The album was also nominated for the Mercury’s prestigious US counterpart, The Shortlist Prize.
‘Final Straw’ was originally released in August of last year and was re-released in March of this year with two bonus tracks. Since then it has been consistently featuring in the Top 10 album chart in Ireland and the UK.
Speaking about Final Straw, singer Gary said; “For this album the theme is coming back from the brink because that's what it sounds like to us. It's about release and getting your head straight.
"Now that we have a home we are happy with, everyone's going to have the opportunity to buy the record and listen to it. That's all we ever wanted really."
Snow Patrol continue on their tour across the US and Canada until mid-October, having already taken in an appearance on the David Letterman Show.
Final Straw has already sold in excess of 115,000 copies in the US.
