Sheridan to start work on new script

Irish director Jim Sheridan has started work on the script for his latest film, a Steven Spielberg re-make of Akira Kurosawa's classic Ikiru.

Irish director Jim Sheridan has started work on the script for his latest film, a Steven Spielberg re-make of Akira Kurosawa's classic Ikiru.

Tom Hanks is set to star in the film.

Ikiru is the story of a low-level bureaucrat who discovers he is dieing from cancer and who wants to do something by which he will be remembered. Filming is due to begin shooting shortly.
