Dolly honoured by American Legion

War veterans at the American Legion honoured Dolly Parton with its Good Guy Award on Monday during the organisation's national convention in Nashville, Tennessee.

Parton was recognised for her charitable work in Sevier County, East Tennessee, where she grew up.

Her humanitarian accomplishments include the Dollywood Foundation, the Dolly Parton Wellness and Rehabilitation Center of Sevier County and the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

Parton told the vets: "Compared to what you folks have done and are doing, I haven't done much. I appreciate this more than I can say."
