Streets get hedonistic for new promo

The Streets are poised to spark controversy with their new video - because it features Mike Skinner drinking and taking drugs.

The promo for the urban rapper's new single, Blinded by the lights, depicts Skinner beaten up at a wedding, after his girlfriend cheats on him with his best friend.

And director Adam Smith was eager to stay truthful to the song, which describes Skinner's drug-fuelled reaction to his new girlfriend's no-show at a nightclub.

He says: "It was hard work. Mike said he really didn't want to set it in a club, as he felt it had all been done. He wanted to do this whole suspense thing as well so I decided on a wedding.

"I tried to interweave the film with the narrative so it still made sense with the story of the album as well."

The video premieres on Britain's Channel 4 this Saturday.
