The Darkness: Our new songs are sh*t

The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins has scrapped all the new material generated by his band - declaring the songs "sh*t".

The hitmaker previewed material for the group's new album at this year's Reading Festival but was disappointed by the crowd's reaction.

And Hawkins is so determined to ensure their second record apes the success of debut Permission To Land, he's scrapped it all and is starting again.

He explains: "They were appalling.

"I'm the first to admit they were turgid."
