Doherty 'will rejoin Libertines'

Troubled rocker Pete Doherty will rejoin his estranged band The Libertines after avoiding jail for possessing a knife.

Doherty, who was handed a four-month suspended sentence by a London court yesterday, was forced to quit the band after failing to kick his addictions to crack cocaine and heroin at a rehab centre in Thailand.

But former The Clash rocker Mick Jones - who produced The Libertines' new eponymous album - has hinted the group could soon reunite, saying his suspended sentence would "hopefully keep him on the straight and narrow".
