Movie bosses are so desperate to protect Bridget Jones: The edge of reason from being pirated, they've hired a top American security firm.

Studio heads at British company Working Title are concerned the highly- anticipated sequel will have its box-office performance dented if it's leaked onto the black market.

And Working Title - who are still reeling from the poor performance of Thunderbirds earlier this summer - have hired protection specialists Kroll after learning a $10.8m (€8.8m) bounty has been offered by pirates for a print of the film.

An insider says: "It is a case of panic stations. Working Title doesn't want anything to jeopardise the film's release in November."
