Darkness and Metallica win Kerrang! Awards

British glam rockers The Darkness and veteran group Metallica were the toast of the Kerrang! Awards in London last night.

The I Believe in a Thing Called Love foursome picked up Best British Band and Best Live Band, while American stars Metallica were named Best Band On The Planet at the star-studded bash in The Brewery nightspot in east London.

North of Ireland rock band Ash picked up the Classic Songwriter award.

Shock losers on the night were nu-metal group Slipknot, who went home empty-handed, despite being nominated in four categories.

Hall of Fame: GREEN DAY.
