Strokes warm up for V

The Strokes warmed up for the forthcoming V Festival with a storming performance at New York's Little Steven's International Underground Garage Festival on Saturday.

The band appeared on a bill of 45 bands, including headliners Iggy and The Stooges, New York Dolls and The Ravonettes, in preparation for their own headlining slot at V next weekend.

Singer Julian Casablancas hurled himself into the crowd during opening track 'The Modern Age' before closing the song declaring that the sound was "not loud enough godammit!"

Despite New York being in the midst of Hurricane Charley, the singer remained unfazed.
