Catwoman is a cat-astrophy

Catwoman

Director: Pitof

Cast: Halle Berry, Benjamin Bratt, Sharon Stone, Lambert Wilson

Cert: 12.

How sad that such a fine, Oscar-winning actress as Berry - Monster Ball - should turn up in such dismal fare as this mish-mash of a film based on yet another comic-strip character (though there is no appearance for Batman).

She plays quiet graphic designer Patience Price who is eventually turned into the super-powered Catwoman, the better to save the world as we know it from the clutches of the evil Stone and nasty corporate bad guys.

None of which matters since confusion and weaknesses keep coming like a line of busses.

Stone, back on screen after a long period of ill-health and ill-fated projects, does emerge as the film’s scene-stealer and there’s a good cat-fight between her ruthless character and Catwoman.

But it’s a poor effort that doesn’t get the cream.
