Caviezel for Superman?

The Passion Of The Christ star Jim Caviezel is the latest actor tipped to play Superman in the long awaited next instalment of the superhero franchise.

The troubled Warner Bros project has switched many directors over the past few years and stars Nicolas Cage, Josh Hartnett, Brendan Fraser, Jude Law and Jason Behr have all been linked with the famous blue and red lycra outfit.

X-Men movie maker Bryan Singer replaced McG on directing duties last month.

Caviezel's manager Beverly Dean says: "Would he like to do it? He loves Superman. But the truth is there has been no offer, the script isn't even finished - but absolutely he'd be interested."

Singer is currently writing the script for the action movie, but hasn't begun the casting process and is aiming for a 2006 release date.

Recent reports tipped Smallville actor Tom Welling to take his role as a teenage Superman in the TV show onto the big screen.
