Janet Jackson makes TV comedy cameo

Janet Jackson is taking on her first US prime-time television role in two decades to guest star in the comedy Will & Grace.

The singer, who has appeared in classic US television shows Good Times and Fame, will follow in the footsteps of Jennifer Lopez and play herself on Will & Grace.

In the episode, which airs in America next month, Jackson will audition series regular Sean Hayes' character as one of her backing dancers.

While Jackson enjoyed filming her episode, she had a tough time keeping a straight face while cameras were rolling.

She said: "I found myself cracking up in rehearsals when I was supposed to be in the scene. It's just funny to watch them. It's hilarious."
