Service for James takes place tomorrow

A public memorial service and viewing for funk legend Rick James is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles tomorrow.

The Super Freak singer, who was born James Johnson Jr in Buffalo, New York, will be honoured in the service at the Forest Lawn Mortuary.

James, aged 56, was found dead in his Los Angeles home on Friday morning just as he was enjoying a surge in popularity, thanks in part to US comedian Dave Chappelle, who poked fun at the star in his television show.

A recent autopsy failed to determine the cause of death.
