Paul McCartney has re-recorded his set from Live Aid for the charity concert's DVD - because a technical hitch marred his performance in 1985.

Macca's microphone failed at the beginning of his rendition of Let It Be at the London gig. So McCartney has returned to the studio to re-record the sound for the DVD, Live Aid: The Greatest Show On Earth, to be released at Christmas.

Beatles biographer Keith Badman explained: "There was an embarrassing technical muck-up on the night. Because of what happened, he decided to re-record his vocals for any future film of the concert. That's the version you'll hear when the DVD comes out."
