Berry condemns 'insanity' of plastic surgery
Hollywood beauty Halle Berry has slammed women who have plastic surgery.
The Catwoman star said going under the knife in an effort to look younger was āinsaneā.
āI do think weāve become obsessed with beauty and the fountain of youth and, frankly, personally I'm really saddened by the way women mutilate their faces today in search of that,ā she said.
āI see women in their thirties getting plastic surgery, pulling this up and tucking that back.
āItās like a slippery slope ā once you start you pull one thing one way and then you think, āOh my God, Iāve got to do the other sideā.
āThere is this plastic, copycat look evolving and thatās frightening to me.
āItās really insane and I feel sad thatās what society is doing to women.ā
Berry, 37, was speaking at a press conference in London to promote new movie Catwoman.
The Oscar-winning actress recently told how being beautiful had done her no favours.
āBeauty? Let me tell you something ā being thought of as āa beautiful womanā has spared me nothing in life. No heartache, no trouble. Love has been difficult. Beauty is essentially meaningless and it is always transitory,ā she said.
Berry attended the press conference at the Dorchester Hotel with co-star Sharon Stone.
Stone, 46, was more forgiving on the subject of cosmetic enhancement.
āIām not big on plastic surgery but I donāt fault it for someone who wants it,ā she said. āYou have to do what makes you feel good, but itās not my thing.ā
