Foo Fighters double up

The Foo Fighters' eagerly awaited follow-up to 2002's One by One album will be a "two-record set" to satisfy their fans' cravings for soft and hard rock.

Frontman Dave Grohl accepts his band's music has become popular with two types of the record buying public - ballad fans and heavy metallers - so they're separating the two genres on their latest offering.

He says: "I think it's going to be a two-record set. It's going to be 10 acoustic songs and then 10 tracks that are just koo-koo, really heavy."

The ex-Nirvana star adds the band have already written a lot of acoustic material they have yet to record.

The album will be the first to be recorded outside of Grohl's Virginia home basement.
