Jay Kay faces driving ban

Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay faces a driving ban after being caught speeding at 169 kilometres per hour (105 miles per hour) on a dangerous road near his Gairloch, Scotland home.

The British singer, 34, has written to the Perth Sheriff Court in a desperate plea for leniency despite having two separate speeding convictions.

Jay Kay says: "My speed regrettably increased more than I intended. I wanted to make the most of an overtaking opportunity."

Cosmic Girl singer Kay is renowned for his obsession with cars and boasts a €1.5m collection.

The star - who once bragged of driving his mother's Mercedes at 160 kilometres per hour (100 miles per hour) when he was nine years old - is to be sentenced today.
