Joey Ramone's family have accused a music producer of refusing to hand over demos of 16 songs the former Ramones frontman recorded before his death three years ago.

The singer's brother Mickey Leigh says that the tapes were being "held hostage" by producer Daniel Rey.

Daniel, who apparently recorded and played all the instruments on the demos, says he only wants "some sort of settlement". He claims "it has nothing to do with money" as he's "just concerned about protecting Joey's musical legacy".

The demos are said to include a song called Party Line, which had been intended to be a duet with Debbie Harry and produced by Phil Spector.
