Penn's drug use horrified Schlesinger

Hollywood hunk Sean Penn stopped using heroin after it destroyed his relationship with late director John Schlesinger on the set of The Falcon and the Snowman.

Schlesinger's forthcoming biography - by William J Mann - describes his disappointment in Penn's drug-induced behaviour during rehearsals for the thriller.

The British legend complained: "Sean tried heroin over the weekend and missed rehearsal. Tuesday, he was out of control. I've never known a day quite like it."
