Tamzin Outhwaite is to star in her first Hollywood movie – opposite veteran actor Wesley Snipes.

The former EastEnders actress has landed the leading role of a sassy Nato officer in the film, Seven Seconds.

Essex-born Outhwaite has just started filming the action thriller in Romania.

The movie, which is due out next year, is directed by British talent Simon Fellows.

Today the 33-year-old actress said she was stunned to have won the role after auditioning earlier this year.

She said: “I am thrilled to have landed a role in a Hollywood movie with Wesley Snipes.

“Since leaving EastEnders I have been lucky to have worked non-stop on UK based TV projects...and did not expect this opportunity would come so soon.

“It’s great to be working with a British director and am really enjoying the challenge of a feature film.”

Outhwaite, who starred as EastEnders’ Mel Owen, has continued to enjoy success since quitting the BBC1 soap in 2002.

The £500,000 (€748,000) face of cosmetics firm Avon, Outhwaite has also starred in the BBC’s Red Cap, the military police drama, and the TV movie Out of Control.
