An Irish film has picked up the top award at a prestigious Italian film festival.

An Irish film has picked up the top award at a prestigious Italian film festival.

Freeze Frame, written and directed by Derryman John Simpson, picked up the top award at the Taormina Film Festival.

Simpson collected the Best Film trophy and a cheque for €25,000.

Freeze Frame is a thriller that tells the story of a man suspected of a murder who is very paranoic and goes on filming himself next to a clock in order to have an alibi in case he is accused of another crime.
