Lollapolooza music tour is cancelled

The annual Lollapolooza Music Festival Tour has been cancelled following poor ticket sales.

Event organiser and Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell is "heartbroken" about scrapping the concert, which was scheduled to begin in Auburn, Washington on July 14, with dates in New York, Atlanta, Dallas and Toronto, Canada.

Lollapalooza was resurrected last year after a six year hiatus, and this year's gigs were set to feature Morrissey, The Pixies, Wilco, Polyphonic Spree and PJ Harvey.

Tour co-founder Marc Geiger says, "I'm in utter disbelief that a concert of this stature, with the most exciting lineup I've seen in years did not galvanize ticket sales."

Ticket buyers will be entitled to full refunds.
