Williams' bodyguards watch him sleep

British rocker Robbie Williams' is reportedly so scared of spending nights alone he makes his bodyguards sleep at the end of his bed.

The No Regrets singer, 30 - who friends say is struggling with severe depression - craves constant company and forces his security staff to stay overnight in the bedroom of his Hollywood mansion.

A source tells British newspaper The Sun: "He won't sleep in a room unless there is security there, so the poor chap has to kip on the sofa at the end of the bed.

"Robbie needs constant company.

"He is surrounded by people who care about him but even they are struggling to pull him out of this depression.

"On the surface he's got it made. But no one's ever seem him so unhappy."

Williams is currently working on tracks for his sixth album due to be released early next year.
