Swag hit by thieves

A TV show devised by Guy Ritchie, which sets out to catch thieves red handed, has been the victim of a burglary.

Five show Swag traps petty criminals in the act and delivers surprise retribution on the thieves.

Madonna’s husband, Snatch director Ritchie, came up with the programme idea after his bicycle was stolen outside a London studio.

But thieves have left the show’s producers with red faces after swiping tens of thousands of pounds worth of their camera equipment.

Burglars crept into the London edit suite last night, after producers had been working on the final touches of the second series.

TV bosses are relieved the criminals only took the camera equipment and left behind tapes of the show – the result of months of work.

Series editor Syeda Irtizaali said: “It would have been better if the Swag camera crew had been around and on the case.

“The chances of these thieves escaping with anything would have been substantially reduced if our crack team of super-sleuths had been around.”

The first series of the show scared away burglars and surprised car thieves in talking cars.

The second series, which starts on June 29, also features celebrities who play criminals, like former Blue Peter presenter Katy Hill who notches up a massive restaurant bill and tries to leave without paying.
